Añadir al carritoTwo volumes; uncommon. With the ownership bookplate of John Angerstein; Angerstein's estate was purchased by King George IV and Prime Minister Lord Liverpool, creating the foundations of the National Gallery. Bound in contemporary quarter calf with marbled boards and edges; gilt titles to spine and trims to boards. The leather is tired and with some loss, including major loss to the head of the spine of Volume II and to the tails of the spines and head of volume I. There is cracking and drying to the leather of the spines. The joints are rather cracked and worn, and the extremities bumped; the marbled edges have faded. Volume II has a lean when standing. Bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. The hinges are rather strained, but the bindings are otherwise generally firm. Some light spotting to early leaves, and a touch of age-toning towards the margins, else generally smart. Illustrated with five folding engraved maps to volume I, three to volume II. A scarce copy of this Biblical dictionary.
