Auden (Wystan Hugh Auden, 1907 - 1973) AUTHOR : Richard Hoggart (1918 - 2014) / With selections from Auden IMPRINT : Yale University Press PLACE : New Haven DATE : 1951 EDITION : First American Edition DETAILS : Trade hardcover; has a photograph portrait of Auden as frontispiece; contains a Preface, a Chronological Table, Select Bibliography, generous notes and an Index; 256 pages; 5 3/8" x 8"; smooth dark gray cloth covered boards and spine, with silver lettering on front and spine; printed dust-jacket. CONDITION -- BOOK : VERY GOOD -- JACKET : GOOD ONLY -- This is a previously owned book that remains clean and attractive, with the following particulars noted : EXTERIOR : Spine extremities are compressed and have a touch of abrasion; boards are clean , and the lettering is fairy bright; Text-block edges are slightly weathered , else clean. BINDING : Solid. INTERIOR : Clean and free of marking : no underlining, no marginalia, no writing, no signatures. DUST-JACKET : Spine panel is darkened and stained, with chipping to spine extremities (this being the main fault to be found with the volume); there is a small puncture hole on the paper over the front joint; there are a few small edge nick and tears, but the jacket remains intact and sturdy, with surface rub to cover panels minimal. The front dust-jacket flap still has the original 1951 printed price. The whole is protected from further wear by a clear mylar cover.
