Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Angiogenesis is attracting increased scientific and clinical interest. The identification of novel mediators and targeting molecules has led to significant progress in our understanding of tumor angiogenesis and tumor vessel targeting. Important advances in cancer treatment have already emerged, and in the future, blood vessel targeting will play a significant role within individualized therapeutic strategies. This volume provides a general overview of the latest developments in angiogenesis inhibition in cancer. All aspects from the bench to the bedside are considered, with detailed attention both to basic research and to its translation into clinical practice. Individual chapters are devoted to the roles of angiopoietins, HIF-1a, chemokines, PDGF and VEGF, and vascular integrins. The latest results of clinical trials are presented, and various advanced targeting strategies are discussed. This book will be invaluable to all who wish to learn of the most recent advances in this exciting field.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The discovery and development of novel small molecule drugs to fight cancer is a challenging task. This book shows the whole path, from the hit identification and hit-to-lead process to the preclinical studies, required to validate therapeutic targets and to develop novel anticancer treatments that could potentially reach the clinic. Here, two new series of compounds are described: a family of antiangiogenic compounds, and a series of ICMT inhibitors that block Ras activity. These are two innovative examples of some of the most recent advances in the Medicinal Chemistry field, in the search for novel effective treatments for cancer. A must-read for anyone who wants to learn the first steps of drug development, as well as for any expert of the field who wants to stay current with the latest discoveries in the field of antitumor drugs. 240 pp. Englisch.

Condición: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - A new human in vitro anti-angiogenesis assay was established and applied to identify novel angiopreventive agents. Subsequently, two chemopreventive compounds, xanthohumol (XN) from Humulus lupulus L. (hop) and sulforaphane (SFN), an isothiocyanate derived from cruciferous vegetables (Brassicaceae), were selected for detailed investigation of their angiopreventive potential and mechanisms involved in the inhibition of angiogenesis. Representative targets included effects at the transcriptional levels of pro-angiogenic factors, anti-gelatinolytic and anti-endothelial activity. In vivo, XN was shown to exhibit a strong anti-tumour potency on human breast cancer xenografts mediated by the inhibition of tumour-induced angiogenesis. These findings strongly suggest that XN and SFN represent attractive chemopreventive lead structures possessing a remarkable potential to prevent tumour development.
