L'opera deriva da un eccellente lavoro di luminari del XVIII secolo supportati dal Re francese Louis XV in seguito guidati dallo stesso Turpin, considerato al tempo il più grande incisore di botanica. La maggior parte delle incisioni sono firmate Turpin & Pretre. This work derives from an excellent work of luminaries of the 18th century supported by the french King Louis XV and then directed by the same Turpin that was considered as the greatest botanical engraver of his time. Very white strong paper of good quality.

No binding. Original copper engraving, printed in colours and finished by hand. Published 1734-45 in Regensburg in the great botanical work "Phytanthoza Iconographia". This was for the first time, that this technique of colour-printing was used highly sucessful used on the continent in a botanical series. Originally this technique was founded by Taylor in Great Britain. Among the artists in this enormous botanical series were Ehret, Haid and Seutter from Augsburg working. Pierre-Jean-Francois Turpin (1775-1840) is considered by many as the greatest French botanical painter of his time. His drawings of botanical details have rarely been surpassed. He co-operated and was inspired by the botanical painter Poiteau (1776-1854).
