Bei diesem Stand der Dinge nun schien eine allgemeine Betrachtung, welche die Lage ins Auge fasst, angemessen und förderlich. -- Ich selbst glaube einer solchen noch besonders zu bedürfen, denn wenn meinem Minos jetzt Aeacus folgt, kann nicht gleichgütig sein, welche Stimmung er vorfindet. Ein Werk grösseren Umfanges verbreitet sich seiner Natur nach schwerer, bringt nun das umfangreiche Werk noch viel des Neuen, ja für Manchen des Unerhörten, so ist die Gefahr, dass es leichthin abgelehnt werde, nur noch grösser.
