Small paper labels, likely penned by Eda Wolfersberger, are inserted into the frames of a few images identify some of the subjects: a tintype of four young men has an accompanying note, "father in back on the right;" another notes "father's cousin John Wolfersberger, father came West to join him in working for Wells Fargo;" another photo of a man is labeled "father's brother Charles" and there is a newspaper obituary laid in. There are several portrait photos of [Naval Academy?] cadets in uniform. 3) Oblong black fabrikoid photo albums, 7 x 11 1/2 in., bound with black button brads at left margin; white ink note on front cover: "2338 Gilpin / City Park / Mesa Verde / etc. / about 1900 and earlier." Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Oblong quarto. Measuring 7" x 11". String-tied brown leather over stiff paper board. Contains 224 sepia-toned or black and white silver gelatin photographs measuring between ½" x ½" and 5½" x 8", with captions. Very good album with edgewear and small chips with near fine photographs. A photo album depicting scenes in Colorado between 1936 and 1938 taken by a young man, Charles B. Nines. The album begins with a 1936 trip to Dunton with images of Mount Wilson, waterfalls, and landscapes. Another section shows a hiking trip in Estes Park with photos of men in military uniforms. Nines include images of military men at Fort Logan and a camp at Bowels Lake. Following this are images from a ski trip at Estes Park with action shots of athletes going down the mountain and friends posed for photos in the snow. The photographer attended college in Colorado and captures freshman hazing, pranks, and football games. He also visited the West Coast photographing the Nevada Desert, Redwoods, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Artistic views show the Redwoods "looking up," the Columbia River, and beautiful views of the waterfalls. A larger print shows seabirds and a sunset with a caption reading: "Victoria Island from the back of the boat going to Seattle." Another section shows a trip to Yosemite with images of El Capitan, sequoia tress, including inside of the trees, and animals such as bear and deer. Nines includes a few handmade panoramas, including a pull out showing a mountain in Colorado "from the lookout." Towards the end of the album Charles and his fellow classmates are pictured during their graduation posed in cap and gown. A pleasing collection of photographs with views of Colorado and landscapes on the West Coast in the 1930s.
