Edited by De Simone A. and Pasquali M.Edited by Marilena Pasquali, Arianna De Simone, Maria Chiara Romiti, Marco Zindato.English Text.Torino, 2025; hardback, pp. 180, 105 col. ill., cm 28x30. Curated by Marilena Pasquali, Arianna De Simone, Maria Chiara Romiti, Marco Zindato. With contribution by Robert Storr, Siri Hustvedt, Ed Ruscha, Massimo Recalcati. With Time Suspended, Part II, Galleria Mattia De Luca sought to continue the curatorial journey begun with the exhibition Giorgio Morandi. Il tempo sospeso (Rome, 2022), enriching it with a significant second chapter-distinctly American in character. In a historic New York townhouse-an elegant 19th-century residence on the Upper East Side near Central Park-gallerist Mattia De Luca and Marilena Pasquali chose to present the work of the great Bolognese master, while evoking the intimate domestic atmosphere of his studio and the fertile relationships he cultivated with the United States, beginning in the 1930s and continuing unbroken ever since. Notably, New York was the first American city to host a solo exhibition of Morandi's work, held at the Delius Gallery in 1955. The project, the result of a renewed collaboration with the Giorgio Morandi Study Centre in Bologna, set out to retrace the artist's creative arc through more than sixty works, including etchings, watercolors, drawings, and oil paintings, produced between 1914 and 1964. These precious variations on the themes of still life and landscape - "musicated" by the painter from Grizzana through his masterful use of color and form - offered an important opportunity for historical and critical reflection.
