The formerly forbidden cemetery, covering approximately 40 square kilometers, has become a major tourist attraction as well as an important place to study the history, architecture, and handicraft of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

It is a strikingly beautiful book, very colorful and nicely produced, and at 96 pages, longer than other books produced for tourists on the same topic, There is just a touch of edgewear, but the book looks qu…ite pristine. The book is written in four languages besides Chinese--English, French, German and Spanish. The English preface explains that the Ming Tombs are located in Changping District, Beijing. These tombs are not those at Dingling or Shisanling Reservoir, which are suggested as additional destinations. Much attention is paid to detail of the tombs and their contents.
