The 6'7' giant, during thatera, attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Glamackan All-America in 1940 and 1941, was nicknamed the Blind Bomber becauseof his poor eyesight and remarkably accurate hook shot. Glamack actuallyshot the ball based on the painted lines on the floor. He scored 45points against Clemson in 1941, still the fourth-highest total in UNChistory. That year, he led UNC to a Southern Conference championship andthe NCAA tournament. In both 1940 and 1941 he won the Helms FoundationPlayer of the Year which was the only MVP award of that time. He is oneof eight players to have his jersey number retired by UNC, the othersbeing Jack Cobb, Lennie Rosenbluth, Phil Ford, James Worthy, MichaelJordan, Antawn Jamison, and Tyler Hansbrough.
