Hardcover. Condición: New. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. This First Edition copy was purchased from a downtown NYC elementary school auction fundraiser for which Guitarist Lee Renaldo & family generously donated the book with a select group of Sonic Youth vinyl releases. Sonic Youth: Sensational Fix is a visually striking and comprehensive 784-page volume that celebrates the multidisciplinary legacy of the iconic post punk band Sonic Youth. The book's intentionally raw and dynamic design mirrors the band's experimental ethos, featuring dense photographic spreads, handwritten notes, essays, and reproductions of album covers, ephemera, and artworks by collaborating artists, creating an immersive experience that reflects the diversity of Sonic Youth's creative output. This volume includes two inserted 7-inch CDs (untouched) with unreleased songs by Lee Renaldo Rats (demo) recorded 2005 mixed by Aaron Mullan & Lee Renaldo July 2008 and Thurston Moore"s Aerosol (3:10) recorded by Aaron Mullan at Studio Sonique July 2008. Its physical heft and layered design echo the DIY spirit of the band, while paying homage to the cross-disciplinary collaborations that defined Sonic Youth's contribution to contemporary culture. This volume was published to accompany the traveling exhibition Sonic Youth: Sensational Fix, which debuted in 2008 at LiFE in Saint-Nazaire, France, and subsequently toured major European museums including Malmö Konsthall, Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon. The exhibition explored Sonic Youth's groundbreaking collaborations with contemporary artists and the band's transformative influence on visual art, music, and alternative culture. The book also features contributions by a host of influential figures including: Richard Hell, Mike Kelley, Jutta Koether, Alan Licht, Lydia Lunch, and John Miller, underscoring its importance as a cultural artifact that bridges music, art, and alternative history. Culturally relevant in 2025, Sensational Fix remains an essential resource for artists, musicians, and cultural historians seeking to understand the transformative impact of Sonic Youth's creative practice and its continuing influence on multimedia art and post punk aesthetics.…

Hardcover. Condición: New. The iconic postpunk band Sonic Youth is best known for blurring musical genres and transcending the boundaries of rock guitar. Its members--Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley--have also, over the course of 27 years since they first started playing together, more quietly engaged in multidisciplinary solo efforts and collaborations with visual artists, filmmakers, designers and other musicians. "What we're doing is always inventing itself. I have no terminology for it," according to Moore. This comprehensive 784-page volume--which includes two 7-inch records with unpublished songs by each member, album covers, band portraits and documentary photos, many of which have never been published before--is a must for fans and anyone seeking to connect the dots between New York's various cultural scenes.
