This book provides a detailed historical account of the 43rd Duke of Cornwall's Own Rifles from Canada, a regiment dating back to the first appearance of militia regiments in Canada. The author traces the unit's history from the earliest days of the militia in the 1600s under French rule, through various reorganizations and conflicts. The book delves into the role of the regiment during pivotal moments in Canadian history, such as the Fenian Raids and the North-West Rebellion. The author presents the development of the regiment from a loosely organized group of riflemen to a highly trained and effective fighting force, shedding light on the evolution of Canada's military capabilities and the broader social and political context in which the regiment operated.
