Compiled in the 11th and 12th centuries, these records offer invaluable insights into the socio-economic landscape of the region at the time of the Norman Conquest. The meticulous extension and translation of these documents by a dedicated team of historians and researchers provide a remarkable resource for scholars and those interested in medieval history. The book's detailed tables and analysis of landownership patterns, tax assessments, and feudal obligations not only illuminate the specific conditions in Devon but also contribute to a broader understanding of the wider societal structures and administrative systems of Norman England.
