The author has developed methods to overcome the difficulties that have prevented an accurate computation of the long period terms in prior work, which were also found to be equally useful for finding the terms which have periods of a year or less. No new inequalities sufficiently great to account for the observed discrepancy between theory and observation appear from the direct action of the planets, as shown in tables in the book. The author has extended Radaus well-known list of terms in longitude and computed new long period inequalities with small coefficients. The values of AP, Bp are also required for finding the perturbations of the earth by the planets and of the planets by the earth, while those of M and their derivatives with respect to n, e, k under the argument 0 are available for the computation of lunar perturbations. Only a few slight verbal changes and corrections of errors in copying have been made to the first five sections, with two exceptions mentioned in the book since the award of the examiners. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
