This book explores the history of video processing from its early development as a tool for simulating video systems in real time to its current use in creating complex digital video effects and algorithms. The author provides a detailed overview of the Princeton Engine, one of the first massively parallel supercomputers designed specifically for video processing, and discusses its use in simulating video systems such as NTSC and HDTV. The book also examines the evolution of programming languages for video processing, from early text -based compilers to modern graphical programming environments such as NETED. The author concludes by discussing the challenges and opportunities for future research in video processing, and the potential for the Princeton Engine to continue to play a significant role in this field.
