The tribunal was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, including King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, and it played a central role in the Reign of Terror. Through a close examination of the tribunal's trials and executions, the book analyzes the ways in which the tribunal operated and the impact it had on the course of the French Revolution. The author argues that the tribunal was a tool of political repression that was used to silence the opposition and consolidate the power of the revolutionary government. The book also explores the ways in which the tribunal's legacy continues to shape debates about the nature of justice and the limits of state power.
