This book discusses the commercial bills and bank notes in circulation during the late 18th century, particularly highlighting the urgent need to establish a central bank to regulate the excesses occurring within the finance community of the time. Concerned that the public is starting to lose confidence in using promissory notes due to the financial irresponsibility of unregulated banks issuing paper currency without sufficient backing, the author provides a well-reasoned economic argument for the necessity of a central entity to control the money supply and safeguard the nation's financial health.
