Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the embryological development of the prehistoric fish Lepidosiren, commonly known as the lungfish. The author utilizes various microscopes and staining techniques to examine fish eggs and embryos, reconstructing the developmental stages of the species. One of the most significant findings is that the lungfish gastrulation process, involving the formation of the archenteron (primitive gut), occurs mainly through a process of invagination, challenging the previously held belief that splitting is the primary mechanism in this species. The author also meticulously describes the formation of the notochord, mesoderm, and nervous system in Lepidosiren embryos. This detailed analysis provides valuable insights into the early development of lungfish and contributes to our understanding of vertebrate evolution. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
