This book presents a historical analysis of the jurisdiction and rights of the County Palatine of Chester during the late medieval and early modern periods. The author examines the legal and political relationship between the County Palatine and the English monarchy, exploring the powers and privileges granted to the Earls of Chester and the extent of their authority within the region. The book also investigates the role of the Chamberlains and other officers of the County Palatine, and their part in administering the law and maintaining order.
