Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a compilation of historical texts from the pen of Symeon of Durham, a Benedictine monk of the 12th century. It is divided into two parts: the first contains the Historia de Gestis Regum Anglorum ("History of the Deeds of the Kings of the English"), a chronicle of the kings of England from the death of Bede to the reign of Henry I, and the second contains a collection of historical tracts, including the Historia Dunelmensis Ecclesiae ("History of the Church of Durham"), the Historia Regum Anglorum et Dacorum ("History of the Kings of the English and Danes"), and the Libellus de Exordio atque Procursu Istius Hoc Est Dunelmensis Ecclesiae ("A Brief Account of the Origin and Progress of this, that is, the Church of Durham"). These texts provide valuable insights into the political, ecclesiastical, and social history of England in the Middle Ages. Symeon, writing as a monk with access to the archives of his monastery, offers a unique perspective on the events of his time, particularly those relating to the north of England. His works are essential reading for historians and students of medieval England.
