This mid-18th century book includes collected papers, mostly in prose form but with some verse, that were published during the hotly contested Norfolk County election of 1768. The author compiles campaign advertisements from candidates both for and against the legality of general warrants, as well as speeches made and letters exchanged between the candidates. In scrutinizing the motivations and actions of those who campaigned for and against general warrants, the author presents arguments for and against their use. The book shines a light on the political climate of the time and provides insight into the nuances of a contentious issue that stirred passions on both sides of the aisle.
