Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book collects documentation regarding a 1917 conference held in Canada to discuss urban and rural development. The conference was organized by the Civic Improvement League of Canada and the Commission of Conservation. The speakers and attendees discussed housing problems, municipal finance, and improvements to rural life, all against the backdrop of WWI and the challenges faced by soldiers returning home and resettling. The author shares the insights of the speakers and attendees, who included government officials and private-sector leaders, and who represented a cross-section of views on civic life. The book offers fascinating insight into the challenges and concerns of municipal administration and development in Canada in the post-World War I period.
