During his time in the war, Peter writes letters to his family and keeps a diary, which are shared in this book. The letters and diary entries are detailed and provide a harrowing glimpse into the realities of WWI from the perspective of a young man who, initially, embraced the war with fervour, but gradually became disillusioned as he experienced its horrors. Against this backdrop of the war, the author also explores the personal philosophies and beliefs of Peter and how the realities of war contrasted with the ideals he held dear. Ultimately, Peter's story grants readers the opportunity to discover the enduring human capacity for love, bravery, and sacrifice in the face of unimaginable adversity.
