First edition. 135 symbolic color illustrations, "a major illustrated attempt to bring out the meaning and significance of Gurdjieff's philosophical ideas"; 328 pages. This second book by Buzzell , writer/editor Richard Smoley considers the most creative and profound exploration of Gurdjieff's teaching to appear in over a generation. Thirteen essays focus on Gurdjieff's cosmology and a number of the fundamental circumstances which keep man imprisoned within his topsy-turvy view of the Universe. Buzzell applies his own medical training and interest in neuroscience to Gurdjieff''s teaching on consciousness, the cosmic laws and our own practical work. He stresses for need to create enough force in ourselves to evoke the emergence of real conscience, in man & the singular hope for the future. Buzzell studied with Irmis Popoff, founder of the Pinnacle Group in New York and with Annie Lou Staveley, founder of Two Rivers Farm in Oregon.
