This book was created in conjunction with an exhibition of his work. The Preface is by Peter Bu…nnell, and there is an essay by Nathan Lyons. White was a founder of Aperture magazine, photographed for the WPA and was affiliated with several important academic institutions during his career, and his works are in important collections around the world. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names, and no bookplates. It is bound in the riginal red cloth publisher's covers with spine and cover lettering and with a b&w photo pastedown on the front cover. Over the course of his long career, White held positions at the California School of Fine Arts, the George Eastman House, the Rochester Institute of Technology and, from 1965 until his death in 1976, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His photographs are in the principal collections of Princeton University, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, The J. Paul Getty and Norton Simon museums in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, among others.
