Sub-title - The Strange and Unexplained Death of Huey Long. A biography of one of the most controversial and powerful politicians in Louisiana history. One section of b&w photo illustrations from contemporary sources. Included is a 3.5 x 5 card offering reproductions of the illustration on the front of the dust jacket, which was done by Louisiana artist George Rodrigue. Jacket (not price clipped) is in a clear protective cover. This book is in my inventory and the images are of this particular item. *** Red-orange cloth boards, clean with very light wear, solid binding. Jacket clean with moderate wear on edges, several short closed tears on top edges that have been repaired on verso with archival tape. Book Near Fine in VG jacket. *** 9.25 inches tall by 6.25 inches.

Hardcover: H 23.5cm x L 15.75cm. Dust jacket with front panel and front flap illustrations of Huey Long by renowned Louisiana artist George Rodrigue; panels rubbed; light fading to spine panel's red lettering; front panel with gold "Louisiana Literature Award Winner 1986" sticker affixed at center right; paper clip impression and author's mailing label affixed at top of front flap with latter somewhat obscuring Long portrait. Black boards with vibrant gilt stamped lettering to spine. First several leaves have light paper clip impressions at their top center margins; author's four-line ink inscription "To Bob Livingston, with | warmest regards from his | friend, | Ed Reed" on front free endpaper; interior leaves are otherwise bright and clean. Binding retains some crispness. Ed Reed was a Baton Rouge political campaign manager, lobbyist, governmental consultant, and historian with a deep interest in Huey Long. The inscribee is attorney Robert Livingston who served as U.S. Representative from Louisiana's 1st District from 1977 to 1999 and chaired the House Appropriations Committee from 1995 to 1999 as well as being House Speaker-designate before his resignation from office.
