Asahel Curtis, who I believe was estranged from his brother, Edward, who photographed the North American Indian, worked as a Seattle-based photographer and was very involved in Washington's civic life and was one of the founders of the Mountaineers. There's power in these pictures, particularly those of the Seattle regrades where Seattle's expansion interests led to the removal of Denny Hill.
