paperback. Condición: Good. Filter Press, 1971. Booklet, paper covers, 42 pp. 1971 reprint edition. In good condition. Cream pictorial paper covers have light bumping and creasing to edges and corners and light overall scuffing. Binding tight (staple bound). One page has some hand marked corrections (appears to be printer's mark…s). Otherwise pages are clean and unmarked. NOT Ex-library. NO remainder marks. Black and white illustrations. [From inside front cover] HE KILLED BILLY THE KID! This is a facsimile reprint of one of the most sought-for items of New Mexicans, a famous but almost never seen booklet about the sheriff who pursued and killed Billy the Kid. It was written just after Garrett's own slaying in 1908, written by a newspaperman who knew Garrett and New Mexico well. This exact reproduction was made by a photographic process from one of the two known copies of the first (and until now only) edition. It is not only good history; it is thrilling reading matter. No collection of Western Outlaw material is complete without it. John J. Lipsey, Western Historian, Rare-book dealer, author, and publisher, wrote the above paragraph when he first reprinted this book in 1952. Shortly after John died in 1969, Julia asked if I wouldn't like to reprint the book again, am fortunate, and proud to be able to bring it to a new generation o Americana collectors, using John printing plates.
