AUTHORS: Zacharie J. Clements is Associate Professor of Reading Education at the University of Vermont. He has taught in public schools from grade 6 through high school. Dr. Clements has developed and implemented training programs in the teaching of corrective reading and reading in secondary-school content areas. He has conducted numerous teacher training institutes for the local, state, and national governments and has served as a consultant and lecturer to school districts throughout the United States and Canada. In addition, Dr. Clements is co-author of the Learning Trends Series, World of Vocabulary. Leon F. Burrell is Assistant Professor in the College of education and Social Services at the University of Vermont. Dr. Burrell previously served as a special education teacher and as a counselor in the Lansing (Mich.) public schools. He has been a major participant in human relations workshops and presentations throughout the country. Dr. Burrell is co-author of several books in the field of education and has contributed articles to several educational journals. Reading Consultant M. Jerry Weiss is Distinguished Service Professor of Communications at Jersey City State College. He is an experienced teacher of English, language arts, and reading at the secondary-school and college levels. Dr. Weiss is the author of a number of language arts textbooks and professional books for teachers.
