Introduction and commentaries by Stephen Coppel. Richard Hamilton began illustrating James Joyce's Ulysses in 1947 a year before he entered the Slade School. Hamilton had a lifelong interest in this groundbreaking literary work. In this catalogue, seven extracts are included alongside full-plate illustrations taken from Hamilton's own paperback copy of the 1932 Odyssey edition now (2002) in his possession for over 50 years.

This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition organised by the British Council which commenced its tour at Cankarjev dom Galerija, Ljublijana on 10 June 2001 and ended at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, on 1 August 2002.
