Condición: Wie neu. Octavo. Portrait-Frontispiece of Richard Jefferies, XXVII, 787 pages. Original Hardcover with original dustjacket in protective collector's mylar. Excellent condition with some minor signs of wear only. Rare in this condition. A wonderful and important publication on the publication-history of a tragic writer…. Includes for example "Contributions by Richard Jefferies to Periodicals - Works in which his writings first appeared in Newspaper and Magazine Form" / Books and Pamphlets by Jefferies / Posthumous Publications (Field and Hedgerow etc.) / Anthologies / Manuscript Material / Richard Jefferies is one of the major figures in the long tradition of British rural writers and yet, in the century since his death, there has been no descriptive bibliography of his work. In this book, which is based on over 20 years of collecting and researching, the authors have documented more than 1500 individual items of material by or about Jefferies. The main sections include a listing of all known periodical contributions (with synoposes of all those which have not been reprinted), a description of all known published editions of his books (whether original works or anthologies) and a listing of all pertinent works about Jefferies in books and periodicals. It includes the first complete record of the manuscripts held in the British Library and other public and private collections, together with a chronological list of the published works and an an alphabetical index of Jefferies' titles. In addition, the introductions to each title offer insights into Jefferies' work based on evidence from original correspondence and publishers' records. Together these amount to a full-length biographical study of his literary career. This is a reference work for libraries, readers, dealers, collectors and students. (Publisher's Information).
