Añadir al carritoHardback. Condición: Very Good Plus. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Reprint. 1970. Facsimile reprint of the eighth edition of 1782. [iv], [iv], 384pp., 14 page index, 2 page catalogue from the 8th edition, frontispiece, 1 plate, and 2 illustrations of plans of courses. Elizabeth Raffald (1733-1781) was an English author, innovator and entrepreneur. She was in domestic service for fifteen years, ending as the housekeeper to the Warburton baronets at Arley Hall, and after marrying moved to Manchester with her husband, where she opened a register office to introduce domestic workers to employers. She also ran a cookery school and sold food from the premises. In 1769 she published her cookery book The Experienced English Housekeeper. The work soon went through many editions, and comprises recipes for food and drink only and, unlike many other cookery books of the time, there are no recipes for medicines or perfumes. The book is bound in the original pale yellow cloth covered boards with gold titling against a green background on the spine. The book is in excellent condition, and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has light shelf wear with slight fading to the spine and rubbing along the top edge. The spine ends are bumped with some chipping to the top of the spine.
