In 1933 Walter Poller was organizing illegal resistance groups against the Nazis. After being arrested several times, he was convicted of treason against Hitler's Reich and condemned to four years with hard labor. Buchenwald was the notorious concentration camp near Weimar. It was the death camp which, at the invitation of Dwight Eisenhower and the request of Winston Churchill, a British parliamentary commission visited soon after American soldiers liberated the area. The commission's report left the world aghast. Yet it reported only a brief chapter in the story of Buchenwald. Walter Poller was a Buchenwald inmate, ordered under penalty of death to assist the German monsters-doctors. He witnessed appalling atrocities. 56,000 human beings were murdered in Buchenwald, systematic genocide exercised with brutality that included medical torture. Miraculously, Walter Poller survived. This damning indictment is an answer to President Reagan's lie that the S.S. men were, like the Jews, victims. Medical Block Buchenwald is an indictment that must never be forgotten.
