A summing-up of the French philosopher's works and thought over the course of several decades. "His philosophical project is a genuine system in the traditional sense. It profoundly shakes up the field of thought as well as offers fresh insights into contemporary events. His concepts have become indispensable tools in a variety of fields, from philosophy to anthropology, and including art, politics, and theatre. Over 90 entries in this Dictionary provide detailed explanations and engagements with his key concepts and some of his major interlocutors. They also reflect the crucial divergences in Badiou scholarship in a productive and enlightening way" (Publisher's blurb). "Its entries provide a series of threads through the work of one of the most important contemporary thinkers, written with clarity and based on vast scholarship. Steve Corcoran gathered a most impressive group of outstanding scholars, each with an independent voice" (Mladen Dolar). An absolute "must-have" title for Alain Badiou collectors. This title is an indispensable reference to Alain Badiou's work. This is one of very few copies of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing still available online and despite its imperfection (A publisher's flaw: Slight bump on hard board corner, but it's there) is still in fine condition: Every single internal page is clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: This is an Import title. There is NO American Edition. The publisher's original list price is $125. A rare copy thus. One of the greatest philosophers of our time. A fine copy.
