Poole wanted to be able to write rude things about his friends in the morning and still be invited to drink their port in the evening. Arthur James's articles, on every subject under the sun, but having a definite bent towards hunting, good friends and fine frolics, started appearing in the 'Shooting Times' in the early 1980s. This is a selection of some of the best from the first years.
