Personally signed, inscribed and dated by Gary Zukav on June 5,… 1979: "To Henry, with gratitude and admiration, Gary Zukav 6/5/79" The recipient is believed to be Dr. Henry P. Stapp, the distinguished theoretical physicist at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory whose work on quantum mechanics and Bell's theorem figures prominently in the intellectual background of the book. Most significantly, Zukav specifically acknowledges Henry Stapp in this first edition for reading and commenting on the manuscript and for taking the time to answer his questions about physics. The wording of the inscription, "with gratitude and admiration," together with its very early June 1979 date and Stapp's documented involvement with the manuscript, makes the identification particularly compelling. This therefore appears to be an important association copy linking the author directly to one of the physicists who assisted him in the creation of the book. The book retains its original William Morrow dust jacket with the original $12.95 price intact. The book shows little wear. The dust jacket has two slight tears but almost no edge wear. It looks practically new.
