Añadir al carritohardcover. Condición: Acceptable. Please see the condition note after this for details, if this is missing please consider Acceptable to mean poor quality that could include major staining, water damage, writing, missing dustjacket, etc etc. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very good. First edition. An association copy, inscribed on the second blank: "For Dan, namaste in abundance, dear amigo. Lovingly, Terri, 12/7/96." Uncommon signed. The recipient is important photographer Dan Budnik, with his name stamp at the lower corner of the front free endpaper. Budnik is well-known for his photography of the Civil Rights Movement and his portraiture of figures like Georgia O'Keeffe. He also documented the Hudson River restoration effort and Indigenous culture in the Southwest. Laid in is a photocopy of a Sioux prayer with a post-it note from T.C. McLuhan to Budnik relaying it; as well as a sheet of stationary from a hotel in China with two quotations from Muso Soseki and Isamu Noguchi written out in what appears to be McLuhan's hand (at least one of those quotations is collected in the book itself). A comparative exploration, The Way of the Earth "draws upon both ancient and contemporary sources to examine the significance of the Earth from the perspective of six diverse cultures," i.e. indigenous regions: aboriginal Australia, Japan, Greece, Africa, the Kogi of South America, and Native North America (the North American section runs nearly 100 pages). It collects a wide array of primary texts with McLuhan's synthesis and interpretation woven between. McLuhan is an independent scholar and filmmaker and the author of three other books on indigenous subjects. Paper boards with a blue cloth spine. A good copy because four pages (one sheet folded, containing the prologue) have come loose from the text block but are laid in cleanly; otherwise near fine. In a very good jacket with some creasing/curling to lower front edge and general rubbing.
