She saved and used scraps and pieces of fabrics for years. Most quilters from her time period did the same, but because her quilts have been saved and preserved, they can now be compared. Some of the same fabrics in her 1920's quilts were found in her 1960's quilts. I have a greater appreciation of my yards of fabric in my stash because I see that she had limited amounts of fabric yet made patchwork squares from those amounts that were appropriate interpretations of patterns. I have read that it is rare to be able to compare and document more than one or two quilts from one quiltmaker or family. My family must be an exception. Natie Juzan left a legacy of some thirty quilts. These quilts, even though not one of them have been entered in a contest or ever won an award have been lovingly cherished and preserved by her family. (LL).…
