Now mostly in their seventies or eighties, these last survivor of the Raj went out to India as ordinary men and women to follow - by today's standards - extraordinary lives. The author has skilfully and affectionately transcribed the voices of the survivors onto the printed pages, drawing further on their spoken reminiscences and enchancing them with many lively and original illustrations.
