In this book, the author discusses the French National Assembly's Civil Constitution of the Clergy, which aimed to reorganize the French church structure and strip the pope of his authority over French clergy. The author, drawing from papal letters, historical examples, and canon law, argues that the constitution violates the principles of Catholic dogma and discipline, diminishes the role of bishops, and disregards the rights and authority of the Holy See. The author concludes that the constitution's true aim is the destruction of the Catholic religion in France. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of the Catholic Church or the tumultuous period of the French Revolution.
