After his playing days he managed the Detroit Tigers from 1949 to the middle of the 1952 season-when he was fired. This book is comprised of the journals he kept of those years-a description of…every inning of every game he managed. A Dartmouth College graduate, Rolfe wrote, "I purposely wait until the day after the game, so I can review it objectively, read the newspapers-sportswriters often mention subtle points I overlooked-and had my wife's scorecard in front of me."
