Rudloe operates the Gulf Specimen Company on the Gulf coast of Florida and has written several books about his adventures and mishaps collecting marine specimens. Maybe not as colourful as Cannery Row but very entertaining. Rudloe is a well known conservationist and has been involved in many marine expeditions around the world. He has won numerous conservation awards but also called a 'nut' and an 'extremist' by his local press. He tried to start a campaign to get people to return their Exxon credit cards in a Ziplock bag of motor oil to Exxon after the Exxon Valdez oil spill. My kinda guy!
