Conducted by the Entomology Research Division, Agricultural Research Service, USDA, this volume is a continuation of similar research previously published. It presents results of tests with materials previously screened and adds results of tests with new materials. The work reported here is part of a broad program of research aimed at developing better control methods for arthropods that attack livestock and poultry. The book is divided into four sections, the first containing information on procedures and methods used for systematically screening compounds in this study. The second section lists the chemical designations of more than 600 compounds that were found to be systemically active against stable flies (Stomoxys calcitrans), screwworms secondary screwworms, black blow flies, and lone star ticks on cattle. The third section contains information on the structure-activity relationships of these compounds, and the fourth section contains a table summarizing the results of the tests. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
