The book was first published in the UK in hardcover, in a different translation, by William Heinemann in 1935, and reissued in 1987 with the new translation as used for this Picador edition. The book was originally published in German by Querido Verlag, Amsterdam as "Tarabas. Ein Gast auf dieser Erde'. ***Near fine in glossy card illustrated covers, with the original publisher's printed price of £4.95 net on the back cover. The covers are just slightly rubbed and creased at the edges, commensurate with age and handling. Spine tight without any reading creases. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions. Pages clean with no annotations or foxing. The paper stock and the inside of the covers have tanned with age.
