This book presents a fascinating insight into England during a period of significant religious and political change, as seen through the eyes of Venetian ambassador Daniel Barbaro. Barbaro's detailed account spans the years 1551-54 and offers a unique perspective on the reign of boy-king Edward VI, and the influence of his advisors. The author, a keen observer of English society and culture, provides invaluable insights into the social and economic conditions of the time, in addition to painting a vivid portrait of the English court and the religious turmoil of the era. The work is an important historical document that not only sheds light on Anglo-Venetian relations, but also provides a valuable perspective on European history.
