It begins with basic principles of geometry, examining lines, angles, triangles, and other shapes. It then moves on to explore more complex relationships between shapes and their measurements. The author does not use the vocabulary of modern-day trigonometry, but he does develop some of the ideas that would lead to that branch of geometry. Over time, many of the propositions in this book have come to be known as theorems, such as the Pythagorean Theorem. Originally developed centuries before the common era, these ideas were foundational to the development of mathematics as a whole, and are still relevant today in fields such as engineering, architecture, and art. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
