This book is a close examination of a medieval English verse homily known as the "Poema Morale" from approximately the 12th or 13th century, with a focus on the various extant manuscripts containing the text. The author provides a detailed account of each manuscript in terms of its physical characteristics, dialectal features, and textual variations, working to establish the relationships between them. The author also includes a diplomatic edition of the text using one of the manuscripts. This methodology is useful for understanding the development of the English language during the Middle Ages and provides valuable insights into the ways in which medieval scribes and readers interacted with religious texts. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
