This book presents a unique exploration into one small corner of the vast field of Hellenistic Greek, seeking to unravel its significance in understanding the New Testament. The author traces the historical account of Oxyrhynchus papyri, especially those classified as private correspondence, and offers a detailed analysis of their vocabulary, grammar, and epistolary characteristics. By comparing these aspects to the New Testament, this book sheds light on the shared language and thought patterns between the vernacular Greek of the first-century Roman Empire and the early Christian writings, providing valuable insights into the linguistic and historical context in which the New Testament was composed.
