This book presents a comprehensive record of an 1873 expedition to map out a disputed territory between miners and Native Americans in the Ute Country, a rugged region of Colorado. Led by Lieutenant E.H. Ruffner, the expedition surveyed a line along the 107th meridian, establishing geographical data and providing a detailed description of the landscape. The report includes observations on geology, meteorology, astronomy, and photography, offering valuable insights into the region's physical characteristics and natural resources. The expedition's findings contributed to a greater understanding of the Ute Country, its terrain, and its significance in the ongoing negotiations between settlers and indigenous communities.
