This book preserves the proceedings of the Assembly of Representatives of the Commune of Paris, documenting their resounding role during the French Revolution. Holding its first session on July 25, 1789, the Assembly of Representatives of the Commune of Paris was tasked with creating the plan for the new municipality of Paris and organizing the city's administration. These proceedings provide an insider's look into the Assembly's discussions and debates, as well as their interactions with the various political factions of the time. These transcribed meetings open a window into the daily operations of the Assembly, shedding light on the complexities of administering a city in the midst of such dramatic societal change. The Assembly's plans for instituting new municipal reforms, addressing economic issues, and ensuring public order amidst revolutionary fervor are subjects of ongoing debate and deliberation. However, the book delves into more than just administrative concerns. These proceedings reveal the Assembly's engagement with issues of social justice, such as their vocal opposition to the death penalty and their efforts to provide assistance to the city's poor and marginalized communities. This publication offers a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of a revolutionary body, providing insights into the aspirations of the French people during one of the most pivotal moments in their history.
