The author includes letters written by Havergal and his contemporaries, providing additional insights into his personal life. Havergal's work in the parishes of Creech Heatheld, Durston, and Lyng in Somerset is recorded. He also served as a curate to the well-known Reverend Biddulph in Bristol, and had a successful ministry in Coaley and Astley in Gloucestershire. Forty years of work as a rural rector in Staffordshire is covered, and his final years in Leamington are also examined. The author provides an appreciation of the life and work of an exemplary nineteenth-century clergyman, whose primary interests were in promoting the evangelical wing of the Established Church and the Church Missionary Society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
